Sending Emails from Blackboard (Students)

Blackboard Email allows you to send emails to your professor, individual users or to groups of users. It makes communication easy and simple. You can send an email on Blackboard from within a course or under “send Blackboard email” right on the Blackboard home page.

Are you on Blackboard and want an easy way to send email messages without logging into a separate account? Follow the steps below to send a message using Blackboard Email.

Resolution

  1. Go to http://bb.usj.edu, and log in using your USJ username and password.
  2. Your Blackboard courses will appear on the homepage in a section titled “My Courses.” Click on the title of the course to open it. 
  3. Once in the course, you should see the email tab on the left side of the page or under the tools tab.
  4. If there isn't an email tab on the course menu within your course shell, you will always be able to access the "send email" feature on the Blackboard Homepage. In the tools section to the left of the home page, select "send Blackboard email". 
  5. Once you have selected the email button, you will be asked to choose your recipients.  After selecting one or more Recipients, use the right arrow button to transfer the name to the selected column.
  6. Enter a Subject for your email message.
  7. Type your message.
  8. Click Attach a File to browse for files from your computer. You can attach multiple files. After you add one file, the option to attach another file appears.
  9. Click Submit to send your message

Cause

The purpose of Blackboard Email is to allow users an easy way to send email messages outside of the Blackboard system without having to login to a separate email account. Blackboard Email allows you to send emails to your professor, individual users or to groups of users, making communication simple.
