Creating a Transparent Digital Signature for Electronically Signing Documents

Capturing your signature

                Option A – Scanner or Multi-Function Printer/Copier/Scanner

  1. Using a Fine Tip felt pen (alternatively a marker or Sharpie, something that writes darker/bolder than a normal pen) sign the paper
    1. Blue typically converts clearer with higher resolution and ends up looking better when resizing the signature.
    2. Bigger is better.  We recommend folding a plain white piece of A4 paper in half (vertically) and signing large enough to fill 2/3 of that half sheet.

  1. Unfold the paper and scan the image.
  2. Send the image to yourself using one of the following methods:
    1. Scan to Email
    2. Scan to storage device (USB/Flash Drive) most network scanner/copier/printers have a USB port.
    3. Scan to file (if the scanner is connected directly to your PC

Option B – Using an external camera

  1. Using a Fine tip felt pen (or a dark Pen, something that writes darker/bolder than a normal pen) sign the paper
    1. Blue typically converts clearer and ends up looking better
    2. Bigger is better.  We recommend folding a plain white piece of A4 paper in half (vertically) and signing large enough to fill 2/3 of that half sheet.

  1. Take a picture of the signature with your cell phone or a webcam.
    1. Crop the image so there only your signature and a little margin of clear white paper is visible around,

  1. Transfer the cropped image to your PC.  You can do this via Bluetooth, Email or OneDrive (if you have the app on your phone) or by the OTG cable that came with the phone.
