Installing & Configuring VMWare Omnissa Horizons Application

 

  • Launch a web browser (FireFox is preferred)
  • Click the link to “Install VMWare Horizon Client”
    • NOTE: If you are using a USJ owned Windows device, open Software Center to install this application
    • NOTE: If you are using a USJ owned iMac or MacBookPro, launch USJ Self Service to install this application

 

  • You will be redirected to the VMWare Download Center
  • Select Omnissa Horizon Clients

Select go to Downloads depending on Windows/Mac

 

Installing Omnissa Horizon Client on Windows 10 –

NOTE: Be sure to fully update the Operating System and reboot your system before proceeding.A reboot will also be required post install.   

  1. After downloading the Omnissa Horizon installer, open the download folder (Windows default is the Downloads folder) & locate the installer
  2. Launch the executable by double clicking it. 
    1. Administrator rights will be needed for this install.  If you are not an admin on your device you will need the administrator’s password.
  3. Click YES in the confirmation window

  1. When the VMWare Omnissa Horizon install window opens, click the button to:
  2. When the installation finishes, click the     button

 

Installing Omnissa Horizon Client on macOS

Omnissa​​​​​​​ Horizon Mac compatibility

NOTE: Horizon Client for Mac requires a macOS Big Sur (11), macOS Monterey (12), or macOS Ventura (13) operating system running on a 64-bit Intel-based Mac or ARM-based Mac

According to current information, to use VMware Horizon 8 version 2212 with macOS Sequoia, you will need a Horizon Client for Mac version 2406.1 or later, as macOS Sequoia is considered a future macOS version that requires the latest client version for compatibility. 

Key points about using Horizon 8 2212 with macOS Sequoia:

  • Client version requirement:

You must use Omnissa Horizon Client for Mac version 2406.1 or later to access a Omnissa Horizon 8 2212 environment on a Mac running macOS Sequoia. 

  • Mac compatibility:

Any 64-bit Intel-based Mac or Apple ARM-based Mac should be compatible with Horizon Client on macOS Sequoia. 

  • Check release notes:

Always refer to the latest VMware Omnissa Horizon Client for Mac release notes for detailed system requirements and compatibility information.

 

Select Download Omnissa Horizon Clients

Select Select Omnissa Horizon Client for macOS

  1. After downloading the Horizon installer, click the download folder in the Dock & select the Horizon install package.  Double click the installer

    Select Omnissa Horizon Client.pkg

 

            3. Follow the install steps.

Configuring VMWare Horizon Client

  1. Go to Finder.  Click on GO;  Select Applications.  Click on the Omnissa orizon Client.  this will launch the App.

  1. Click  New/Add Server to add the USJ VDI connection

                                                     

  1. Enter the name of the connection server – vdi.usj.edu

  1. Click Connect
  2. Enter your USJ account credentials & click Login

 

  1. Upon successful authentication you will see all VDI resources you are permitted to use
