Resolution
Submitting Video Assignments
Here are two options to submit video assignments for any course. You do not need to do both – just pick the one that works best for you. If you would rather not do these, you can also load them somewhere like Dropbox, YouTube, Google Drive, etc. and share the link.
Click on the links below to jump to one of the sections:
.
Microsoft OneDrive
Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service that allows you to access your files from anywhere. You can use OneDrive to share files and collaborate with others, without having to manage multiple versions in email attachments. All USJ students, faculty and staff have access to OneDrive. If you are familiar with Google Drive, Microsoft Office works more or less the same way. This section outlines the basics of accessing OneDrive, adding files and sharing with others.
Accessing OneDrive
To access USJ’s OneDrive, go to http://myoffice.usj.edu and log in with your USJ email address and email password. Once you have logged in, look for the OneDrive icon near the top of the page. Click on the icon to open OneDrive.
Saving Files in OneDrive
To upload existing files or folders into your OneDrive, click on the Upload button at the top of the screen, then select Files or Folders.
Alternatively, you can click on a file or folder on your computer and drag it anywhere into the OneDrive window. You will see a blue bar at the top that says “Drag the items to any location” while you are dragging the file into the window. Once you have moved the file into OneDrive, you will see an indicator in the upper right corner of the page telling you that the file is uploading.
Sharing Files and Folders in OneDrive
Sharing files in OneDrive allows you to have people work collaboratively on a single document, without having to worry about versions or attachments. You can view the version history to see who made which updates, and multiple people can edit a document at the same time.
To share a document or folder, hover over the file name and click on the Share icon.
A window will open with options to generate a link to share. By default, OneDrive will generate a link that you can share with anyone. You can change this to limit access to specific individuals:
- Anyone – Creates a link that can be shared with anyone, inside or out of USJ. Users do not need to log in to edit the document.
- People in University of Saint Joseph – Creates a link that can be shared with anyone within USJ. Users must log in with their USJ credentials to edit the document.
- People with existing access – Creates a link for users who already have access to the file.
Specific people – Creates a link that only specific users can access. You can share with users within and outside of USJ, but those users cannot forward the link to others.
To change the type of access, click on the Anyone with this link can edit button. Select the option you would like for sharing your file. If you want users to view your file but not edit it, uncheck the Allow editing button. Then, click Apply.
Alternatively, you can click on the Copy link icon to generate a link to share. You can then copy and paste this link in an email or post in Blackboard.
Submitting Your OneDrive link in Blackboard
Once you have copied the link to your OneDrive file, log into Blackboard and open up the assignment you need to submit. Click on Write Submission, then paste your link into the text box. Click Submit.
Echo360
Echo360 is a lecture capture platform. Faculty use Echo360 to record and share videos with their students, and students can use Echo360 to upload videos for their instructors. This section will outline uploading and sharing videos with your instructor via Echo360.
To access Echo360, log into Blackboard and open the assignment you need to submit. Click on Write Submission. In the toolbar that opens, click on the Add Content button as indicated below. If you do not see this button, first click on the button with the three dots to expand the toolbar.
In the Add Content window that opens, select Echo360 Video Library.
In the Echo360 Video Library window, select Upload Existing Media, then click Select Media.
Drag and drop your video file into the window, then click Upload.
Once the video loads, select it from the list of videos and click Insert.
The video will embed into your assignment. Click Submit to submit your assignment.
